The goverment is so concern to have a low birth rate because Singapore have no natural resources. People is our only natural resources because we need people in Sinapore to protect the country and also need to people to work in the economy. They also feel that if Singapore have very low birth rate, there will be lack of manpower in case of defense.

The people say that in the old days, Indians and Malays people have many children but Chinese need to work so they think that one or two children should be enough. Nowsdays, goverment say that people should have more childrens. Some of the people say that the the goverment is afraid that singapore will extinct if there is not enough people. In the future, Singapore's average age will be older so singaporeans should be increase the rate of giving birth.
